2019 Indianapolis Colts Team Needs

March 20, 2019

As Free Agency has began to slow down it is the perfect time to take a look at the team needs for each team as we get closer to the 2019 NFL Draft. Listed below are the Indianapolis Colts Team Needs as they head into the 2019 NFL Draft listed in order of importance.

Indianapolis Colts Team Needs

Defensive End

Despite investing two second round picks in 2018 on Kemoko Turay and Tyquan Lewis the Colts biggest need is improving their pass rush that finished 19th overall in sacks. Picking in the twenties the Colts will miss out on the top tier guys with one of their two second round picks who has slid because of the depth in this class.

Defensive Tackle

Adding pass rush help is not just an edge issue as the Colts could get more production out of their interior defenders. Margus Hunt has been a revolution at tackle, but the Colts could use a strong consistent presence. Luckily the draft is full of good defensive line prospects and the Colts could get good value in the middle of the draft.

Linebacker

Darius Leonard was the steal of the 2018 NFL Draft giving the Colts a sideline to sideline playmaker to was worthy of Defensive Player of the year honors. For as good as Leonard was the Colts could look to add another three-down linebacker to pair with him as Anthony Walker is a limited run defender.

Wide Receiver

Having an elite quarterback like Andrew Luck can overcome not having many good weapons. TY Hilton is a true playmaker while the addition of Devin Funchess gives Indianapolis a big contested catcher on the outside. Adding one more starting caliber receiver could really take this offense to the next level and allow Hilton to be moved around even more.

Cornerback

Indianapolis is set up to be one a yearly playoff contender, but if they want to make it to the Super Bowl they’ll need to find some cornerback help to combat the Chiefs, Patriots and Steelers high octane passing attacks. Resigning Pierre Desir was a good move and they have other talented corners but adding talent can help.
