2019 NFL Combine Snubs

NFL Combine Snubs

Every year a crop of talented players are unexplainably snubbed from the combine. Last year, we saw guys like Phillip Lindsay and Ito Smith left off the list of  participants. Even though there will be 331 players attending the combine later this month, there are still a handful of deserving players who were not invited. Here are the 5 biggest NFL Combine snubs this year

2019 NFL Combine Snubs

Darwin Thompson, RB, Utah State

For me, Thompson is the biggest snub this year. Whilst he lacks ideal size, he is a dynamic ball carrier in the Tarik Cohen mold. When you can do things like this…

And this…

You deserve to be at the combine. Thompson is everything the NFL is looking for in a mismatch RB in the passing game. He is also a dynamic runner with insane contact balance for his size. There is no doubt Thompson would have tested incredibly well in Indy. Perhaps the NFL are a little behind on Thompson as he came somewhat out of nowhere being a 1 year player at Utah State after transferring from JUCO last season.

Devine Ozigbo, RB, Nebraska

Another RB getting disrespected, Ozigbo is a big back with surprising burst and lateral quickness for his size. For me, Ozigbo is a Top 10 back in the class and I was surprised to see his name left off the invite list. The sheer volume of underclassmen RBs may have pushed him out but he deserved to be there over the likes of Alex Barnes and Travis Homer.

Anthony Ratliff-Williams, WR, North Carolina

A well rounded receiver who could be a contributor right away in the NFL, Williams is a surprise non invite. He does a great job pulling in passes in contested catch situations and creates yardage after the catch. Maybe the dpeth of this WR class ended up pushing Williams out.

Terrone Prescod, G, N.C. State

Whilst he isn’t the athlete the NFL may be moving towards at Guard, Prescod is a likely starter at the next level. Prescod plays with heavy hands and is a dominant run blocker. He’s a true mauler and deserved an invite even if his appeal to some offenses may be limited.

Penny Hart, WR, Georgia State

I honestly have no idea how Hart was not invited. Whilst I can kind of understand why Darwin Thompson was left off the list, snubbing Hart is truly egregious. Down in mobile, Hart dominated Senior Bowl practices and looked like a future star in the slot. His ability to win with intricate releases, dynamic quickness and refined route running suggest he could be an instant impact player in the NFL. He would have tested really well and was deserving of an invite over some of the WRs in attendance *coughs* Jaylen Smith.
