As Free Agency has began to slow down it is the perfect time to take a look at the team needs for each team as we get closer to the 2019 NFL Draft. Listed below are the Tennessee Titans Team Needs as they head into the 2019 NFL Draft listed in order of importance.
Tennessee Titans Team Needs
Guard
Whether it is protecting Marcus Mariota or opening up holes for Derrick Henry the Titans offensive line took a big step back at guard as Josh Kline and Quinton Spain both regressed. Adding Rodger Saffold helps but there is still a hole at right guard. If Tennessee does not make sign a veteran, they will try to find value in the mid rounds.
Defensive Line
Tennessee has a solid defensive line anchored by Jurrell Casey but the unit is too reliant on space eaters and needs to find another playmaker to take the pressure off of Casey. Austin Johnson and DaQuan Jones are solid run defenders but offer no pass rush help. A loaded defensive line draft could allow them to find a hybrid tackle/end that is able to get penetration.
Outside Linebacker
With Brian Orakpo retiring and Derek Morgan a free agent the Titans brought in former Dolphin Cameron Wake to play opposite of the emerging Harold Landry. Getting Wake was a nice veteran addition but is only a temporary fix that would allow the Titans to add someone in the draft to develop behind him.
Cornerback
The Titans have spent a lot of free agency money and draft capital to building up the cornerback position but just haven’t gotten the return on their investment. Adding another cornerback to compete with their three starters could help push them while also adding more talent to combat the strong aerial attacks within the division.
Wide Receiver
After spending a top 5 pick on Corey Davis and a day two pick on Taywan Taylor, you would think the Titans would have an up and coming receiving core. Instead Davis has yet to reach his potential while Taylor cannot beat out Tajae Sharpe. Adam Humphries helps out in the slot, but Tennessee lacks a deep threat that the team needs.
