The 2019 NFL draft will feature several first-round worthy offensive tackles, some of which may end up coming off the board in the first 15 picks.
But who’s the best in class?
According to the Athletic’s Dane Brugler, that distinction might just belong to Oklahoma’s Cody Ford.
Brugler polled 12 in-the-know sources for their take on the top tackle prospect and five of them came back with Ford as OT1.
I polled 12 people (six NFL scouts, three agents and three media members who I consider plugged in) and asked that very question.
Oklahoma’s Cody Ford led the way with five votes, followed by Alabama’s Jonah Williams with three votes and Florida’s Jawaan Taylor and Washington State’s Andre Dillard tied with two votes each.
It’s an interesting result, to say the least. Few mainstream media analysts have Ford atop the tackle list right now; that distinction tends to belong to Williams, who some believe will end up at guard in the NFL.
But Ford’s imposing frame and better-than-average feet could catapult him to the top of the heap come April.
