The Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers have agreed to a blockbuster 2021 NFL draft trade that has Miami sending the third overall pick to San Francisco for the No. 12 overall, first and third-round picks in 2022, and a first-round pick in 2023.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news.

The 49ers were expected to be in the market for a quarterback even when they had the 12th pick. Now, it’s all but a certainty that coach Kyle Shanahan will land his QB-next with the third selection.
Whether that player is BYU’s Zach Wilson, Ohio State’s Justin Fields, or North Dakota State’s Trey Lance is anyone’s guess, and there’s even an outside chance that Alabama’s Mac Jones could be the 49ers preferred target. They were rumored to be connected to him at No. 12.
For the Dolphins, landing first-rounders for the next two years just to slide down nine spots is incredible value and will continue what’s already an encouraging rebuild in South Beach. Miami has two first-round picks this year (No.s 12 and 18) and now has six first-round picks over the next three drafts.
