New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will be the biggest free-agent domino this offseason. Not only will he likely dictate the quarterback landscape in free agency, but his eventual landing spot could have a direct impact on the 2020 NFL draft, too.
For example, if Brady signs with the Los Angeles Chargers, it makes it less likely they’d spend the sixth overall pick on a quarterback (they’ve been connected with Oregon’s Justin Herbert throughout the early portion of draft season).
Sure, Chargers GM Tom Telesco could still decide a first-round quarterback is a wise move considering Brady will turn 43 at the start of the 2020 regular season, but there’s a chance TB12 will be looking for a multi-year deal. If that’s the case, whoever signs Brady might be doing so with the plan that he’ll be their starter at least through 2021.
That said, it’s hard imagining a scenario where Brady actually leaves the Patriots. There are too many reasons for him to stay, including these four.
