NFL Draft popularity continues to grow

2020 NFL Draft Update:

The virtual NFL draft reached a record 55 million viewers over three days on ABC, ESPN, NFL Network, ESPN Deportes and digital channels, the league announced Sunday.

Each day of the 2020 NFL draft set records, the league said. An average audience of more than 15.6 million viewers watched Round 1 on Thursday, up 37% over 2019. More than 8.2 million watched Rounds 2 and 3 on Friday, up 40% over 2019, and Saturday’s coverage of Rounds 4-7 averaged more than 4.2 million viewers, up 32% over 2019.

Some notable data regarding the 2019 NFL draft:

The NFL touted its 2019 draft telecasts combined to reach more than 47.5 million TV viewers across the event’s three days, which is up 5% from 2018, according to Nielsen’s fast total audience estimates.  The 2019 draft had a combined 3.9 household TV rating and an average of 6.1 million viewers across linear television and digital platforms, according to Nielsen’s fast national numbers. That combined rating is up 11% and the viewership up 8% from 2018.

The 2019 NFL Draft set records for attendance with more than 600,000 fans in Nashville to celebrate the 2019 class. The prior record for attendance was 250,000 (Philadelphia, 2018).
