Are the Saints trying to trade up for a quarterback?

The 2021 NFL Draft is a few hours from finally getting underway, and one team is emerging as a potential trade-up candidate for one of this year’s top quarterback prospects.

The New Orleans Saints.

According to Fox Sports Jay Glazer, the Saints are trying to move into the top 10. Put another way, they’re trying to get into quarterback territory.

Drew Brees’ retirement has coach Sean Payton in an unfamiliar position: he’s on the verge of beginning a season without a Hall of Fame quarterback under center. Sure, Jameis Winston is a quality player, and Payton has a bizarre infatuation with Taysom Hill, but if an opportunity to move up for a prospect like Justin Fields or Trey Lance presents itself, the Saints appear willing to pounce.

The 2021 NFL Draft is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. EST. Expect a fireworks show as soon as the bell goes off.
