Atlanta Falcons Team Needs

Atlanta Falcons Team Needs

March 26, 2018

Free Agency was a quiet for the Falcons whose biggest additions were Brandon Fusco, Justin Bethel and Logan Paulson while they lost Dontari Poe. With the 2018 NFL Draft just around the corner, here is a look at the Atlanta Falcons Team Needs heading into the draft.

Atlanta Falcons Team Needs

Defensive tackle

Replacing a man the size of Dontari Poe is no easy task but something the Falcons must do this offseason. Adding a run stopper next to Grady Jarrett allows Atlanta’s linebackers to use their strength of speed to their advantage.

Tight End

Austin Hooper has been a nice piece to the puzzle but adding another tight end to replace departed Levine Toilolo will be on the list of needs as the Falcons head into the 2018 draft.

Wide Receiver

Losing speedster Taylor Gabriel loses the offenses threat over the middle. Finding another depth piece to come in and compete with Justin Hardy for reps in the slot, while also looking for more help on the outside for Julio Jones will quickly get the Falcons offense back to the level that lead them to a Super Bowl two seasons ago.

Finding a running mate for Keanu Neal in the middle of the field has not been a priority for this front office the last two seasons but should be looked at in this year’s draft. Adding depth to a thin safety group with a prospect like Kyzir White, who can step in and help in the run game.

Defensive End

Finding someone who can get to the opposing quarterback opposite of Vic Beasley and compete with Takkarist McKinleywill allow the Falcons to see more one on one opportunities and chances to put pressure on the opposition. With a defense built on speed and creating turnovers, your dominance starts with your ability to place pressure on the other team.

Starting cornerbacks Robert Alford and Desmond Trufant are firmly in place for the foreseeable future in Atlanta. However, if you look past them you won’t find much quality depth which is why the Falcons will look to add a prospect or two this offseason.

Offensive Line

Every year the Falcons seem to be on the lookout for replacements along their offensive line. This year is no different for both guard positions and depth at tackle. The Falcons would be wise to grab local product Isaiah Wynn with their first-round pick.
