Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month

Chargers rookie Justin Herbert is off to a remarkable start to his NFL career and was arguably one of the league’s best quarterbacks, regardless of age, during the month of October.

Herbert went 67-of-102 passing for 901 yards, 10 touchdowns and one interception over the last three weeks and on Thursday, was named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Month.

Herbert, who the Chargers selected sixth overall in the 2020 NFL draft, began the 2019 college football season jockeying with Tua Tagovailoa to be crowned the top quarterback prospect in the country. The emergence of Joe Burrow forced him down to the sixth pick, which now looks like a massive bargain for Los Angeles.

Herbert’s freakish arm talent has been on display all month and if his success in October is any indication of what lies ahead, the Chargers are going to be a fun squad to watch for many, many years.

In total, Herbert’s started five games this season and is completing 67.4% of his passes for 1,542 yards, 12 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
