The Detroit Lions are in a precarious position with the second overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Ideally, General Manager Brad Holmes would use his top first-rounder on a franchise quarterback prospect, but the consensus opinion of the 2022 NFL Draft is that there isn’t one in this year’s class. As a result, the Lions are a prime candidate to trade down in the first round, which Holmes confirmed at the NFL owners meetings that Detroit is willing to do.
“We’ve had dialogue with a couple of teams,” Holmes said Tuesday. “I wouldn’t say it’s been a lot, but there has been a couple teams that we’ve had some dialogue with. I think definitely we could pull a trade off if the other team is willing before the draft.”
