When Philadelphia selected former Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Eagles fans nearly lost their minds.
Now, 13 weeks into the 2020 regular season, those same fans are counting their lucky stars that Hurts is on the roster. He’s been named the Eagles’ starting quarterback entering Week 14.
Eagles’ HC Doug Pederson is naming Jalen Hurts his new starting quarterback and the rookie will start Sunday vs. the New Orleans Saints, sources tell @mortreport and me. Carson Wentz now will backup Hurts.

The demise of Carson Wentz has been remarkable this season. He’s completing just 57% of his passes and has thrown a league-high 15 interceptions in a year in which he seems to have forgotten how to play the position. Remember, we’re just a few seasons removed from Wentz being the front-runner for NFL MVP and a slam-dunk franchise quarterback.
The Eagles thought so highly of Wentz that they re-signed him to a four-year, $128 million contract in June 2019.
Now, it’s Hurts’ opportunity to prove he belongs as the team’s long-term starter after being selected 53rd overall last April.
Hurts entered Week 13’s game in relief of Wentz and completed 5-of-12 passes for 109 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He added 34 yards rushing.
The Eagles take on the Saints in Philly next Sunday.
