Grading the Miami Dolphins’ 2020 NFL Draft

Tua Tagovailoa miami dolphins

The Miami Dolphins were one of the more exciting teams to watch during the 2020 NFL Draft. The drama that surrounded their first of three first-round picks (No. 5 overall) was what drove the first-round conversation, and fortunately for the fans in South Beach, the Dolphins got it right.

Best Pick: Tua Tagovailoa (QB, Alabama)

After weeks of masterful smoke-screening, general manager Chris Grier did what everyone expected he would and selected Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick. The ‘Tank for Tua’ campaign in Miami began in September and came full circle on Thursday night.

Prior to suffering a devastating hip injury in November, Tagovailoa was considered the slam-dunk top quarterback in the 2020 class. The emergence of Joe Burrow and the injury concerns caused his draft stock to slip, but there’s no denying Tagovailoa possesses elite quarterback traits.

The Dolphins have been searching for a franchise-changing passer since the day Dan Marino retired. Their wait is finally over.
