Green Bay Packers 2019 NFL Draft Review

Pick #12- Rashan Gary, DL, Michigan

Gary was one of the most polarizing prospects in this draft class and for good reason. His athleticism is near unmatched for a human being his size. That said his college production was nowhere near what his traits would suggest. This is the ultimate boon or bust pick for the Packers, if they can untap his limitless potential he could be a huge addition to the Packers, but his track record on field is pretty concerning.

Pick #21- Darnell Savage, S, Maryland

Green Bay has added a ton of pieces to their secondary in the last couple drafts and might have finished the rebuild with the addition of Savage in the first round. A bit raw but ultra athletic Savage excels coming forward and should pair well with Adrain Amos going forward.

Pick #44- Elgton Jenkins, IOL, Mississippi State

The offensive line has quietly been a strength for the Pack over the last several years. They have drafted well and the selection of Jenkins should continue this trend. He is versatile, battle tested and strong technically. Jenkins will provide immediate depth for Green Bay before stepping into a starting role relatively soon.

Pick #76- Jace Sternberger, TE, Texas A&M

After getting very little in the way of production last year from their tight ends the Packers had to address the position in the draft this year. Sternberger has good size, athleticism and instincts and should be an immediate factor in the Packer’s passing game.

Pick #150- Kingsley Keke, DL, Texas A&M

Keke flew under the radar during the draft process and was overshadowed by teammate Daylon Mack in the lead up to the draft. That said Keke was a good value pick thanks to his athleticism and possesses upside as a reserve pass rusher.

Pick #185- Ka’dar Hollman, CB, Toledo

The Packer’s draft plan was to target athletic players regardless of position and draft range. Hollman tested well in the pre-draft process and has the potential to develop into a solid number three or four corner in a very talented secondary.

Pick #194- Dexter Williams, RB, Notre Dame

Williams is a tough runner with good wiggle and an uncanny ability to break off big runs. While the Packers like Aaron Jones as their primary back guys like Jamaal Williams and Tra Carson could get passed up by the former Irish running back.

Pick #226- Ty Summers, LB, TCU

Yet another superb athlete Summers is another Packer’s selection who tore up the NFL draft combine. A four year contributor Summers is a rangy linebacker who could make the Packer’s roster as backup inside linebacker or as a pass rusher, something he excelled at in college.

Overall Grade: A-

Best Pick- Elgton Jenkins

Biggest Reach- Rashan Gary

Best Value- Jace Sternberger
