Here’s which quarterbacks the Dolphins and Panthers will coach at 2021 Senior Bowl

One of the biggest benefits for players participating in the Senior Bowl is the ability to interact with an NFL coaching staff during a week of practice and game prep. It allows for an up-close and personal look at how each prospect takes to coaching and conducts themselves both on and off the field. The 2021 Senior Bowl will be coached by the Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers, and on Friday, the game’s executive director, Jim Nagy, shared each squad’s quarterback depth chart.

This matters a little more for the Panthers, who are expected to be in the 2021 NFL draft market for a young quarterback to groom behind veteran Teddy Bridgewater. The Dolphins selected Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 draft, and while there’s a chance they could look to add a developmental arm as depth, it’s less likely they’ll use a pick on a quarterback in 2021.

Matt Rhule and the Panthers will coach Florida’s Kyle Trask, Texas A&M’s Kellen Mond, and Georgia’s Jamie Newman. Brian Flores and the Dolphins will coach Notre Dame’s Ian Book, Texas’ Sam Ehlinger, and Arkansas’ Feleipe Franks.

Trask is the name to watch out of this group. Prior to his late-season failures, he was considered a Heisman Trophy favorite and a potential first-round pick. While his ceiling is lower than other first-round prospects like Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Trey Lance, and Zach Wilson, he’s jockeying with Alabama’s Mac Jones to be the fifth quarterback picked in Round 1.

Trask to the Panthers in the second round is a narrative that might pick up a lot of steam over the next couple of weeks.
