The blockbuster trades just keep on coming during the 2022 NFL offseason, this time featuring the Green Bay Packers sending Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders for a first- and second-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft.
An Adams-Packers divorce was inevitable after Green Bay used the franchise tag on their superstar wide receiver. Adams informed the Packers this week that he wouldn’t play the 2022 season on a one-year deal, and despite reports suggesting Green Bay was ready to pay Adams the same monster contract he received from the Raiders, it was time to move on.
The Raiders immediately made Adams the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL with a five-year, $141.25 million contract, and are expecting fireworks after reuniting their new WR1 with his college quarterback, Derek Carr.
The two starred together at Fresno State.

The Packers received the Raiders’ first-round pick — No. 22 overall — as the primary asset in return for Adams, which presumably will be used on a wide receiver to help offset Adams’ departure. Before the trade, the Raiders were expected to use their first-rounder on an offensive lineman or a defensive player like Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd. Few mock drafts had a wide receiver slotted at No. 22, but that’s about to change.
The Packers will be in a prime position not only to take a wide receiver at No. 22 overall but if there’s a wideout who they value enough to trade up for, they’ll have the ammunition to package both picks to jump close to or even into the top 10. I’m not sold on any of this year’s wide receivers having a grade high enough to warrant an aggressive move like that, but Green Bay at least has the option.
