Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray was officially invited to the 2019 NFL scouting combine Thursday, joining a list of 338 prospects jockeying to improve their NFL draft stock in front of all 32 teams.
Murray, the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner and potentially the top quarterback in the class, has yet to commit fully to football and hasn’t confirmed whether he’ll actually participate in the scouting combine drills.
When asked about this exact issue by Dan Patrick, Murray’s response was, well, embarrassing. Take a look here.
If Murray wants to elevate his draft stock and be the first quarterback selected in April, he has to not only participate — to some degree — at the scouting combine but also put to rest GMs’ fears that he’ll drop football for a professional baseball career. The longer he waits, the further down the first round he’ll drop.
Murray was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the first round of this year’s MLB draft. Spring training commences on Feb. 15.
