Philadelphia Eagles Team Needs

March 29, 2018

Philadelphia didn’t rest on their laurels after winning the Super Bowl and continued to build up their roster with the additions of Mike Wallace and Michael Bennett. With the 2018 NFL Draft just around the corner here is a look at the Philadelphia Eagles Team Needs heading into the draft.

Philadelphia Eagles Team Needs

Offensive Tackle

Jason Peters is nearing the end of his career and Lane Johnson seems to be a consistent threat for suspension. Finding a prospect who can supple swing tackle depth while giving them a future starter will be a day two priority.

Wide Receiver

Besides Alshon Jeffery there is no consistent threat on the roster. Nelson Agholor has his moments but another true outside threat has been rumored to be high on the Eagles plans in the draft. If a top talent like Calvin Ridley falls to them at the end of round one, the Eagles won’t hesitate to give Carson Wentz a new weapon.

Running Back

The trade for Jay Ajayi proved to be a smart move for a team on the rise last season. But adding another quality runner in the middle to late rounds of the draft to compete with Corey Clements for reps can only make the position stronger.

The team resigned Nigel Bradham, but the often-rumored trade bait that is Mychal Kendricks and replaceable Jordan Hicks are both subject to replacements. If a top tier target like Malik Jefferson falls into their laps the Eagles would be wise to upgrade their starting units using the aforementioned players as depth for another deep run in the playoffs.

Tight End

Trey Burton moved on this offseason leaving a whole behind Zach Ertz. Doug Pederson likes to use many two tight end sets so a quality backup is a major component to their aerial attack on offense.

Defensive End

The Eagles need to be on the lookout for depth at the defensive end position to keep their strength of attacking opposing quarterbacks strong. As we have seen so many times around this league a quality pass rush can never have enough able bodies.

Depending on how they handle the Nick Foles situation this could become an even more pressing need. But finding another quality backup behind Carson Wentz will be a priority even if they keep Foles around to get ready for his departure before 2019, as we all saw how important a competent backup can be.
