With a new head coach in Mike Vrabel the Tennessee Titans were very active in free agency letting older veterans go and bringing in several new faces including Dion Lewis and Malcolm Butler. With the 2018 NFL Draft just around the corner here is a look at the Tennessee Titans Team Needs heading into the draft.
Tennessee Titans Team Needs
Outside Linebacker
Finding themselves in the middle of the NFL statistically in sacks the Titans are neither good or bad. Aging veterans Derek Morgan and Brian Orakpo lead the way but Tennessee has gotten nothing out of former 2nd round pick Kevin Dodd and could really use a young pass rusher to eventually become a starter.
Inside Linebacker
The combination of Wesley Woodyard and Avery Williamson had provided the Titans with two solid run defenders but with Williamson signing with the New York Jets the Titans could use this opportunity to upgrade and bring in an all around linebacker. Alabama’s Rashaan Evans could be an option with their first round pick.
Guard
The Titans offensive line took a slight step back from last year’s dominance but is still good. Their biggest issue is they are razor thin lacking quality backups along with Quinton Spain being a restricted free agent. If even Spain is signed to a long term contract, adding some depth is a must.
Defensive Line
Tennessee has some good pieces along the defensive line that has help them finish with the 4th ranked rush defense, but Jurrell Casey is the only real impact player. The group is loaded with run defenders so adding an athletic penetrator to come in on passing situations could really help.
Wide Receiver
The Titans are hoping Corey Davis soon reaches his potential and gives the offense the number one receiver they hoped when they drafted him 5th overall. Tennessee has the pieces but if they are not able to resign Eric Decker, adding a possession receiver would really round out the unit.
Running Back
After providing the Titans with a high level backup Derrick Henry is finally getting the keys to the offense. Demarco Murry had a great 2016 but regressed and was released while Patriots leading rusher Dion Lewis was signed. With Lewis’ injury issues the Titans could use a late round pick on a back with upside.
Quarterback
Marcus Mariota gives the Titans a dynamic quarterback who has all the tools to be a top 10 quarterback in the NFL. However, the Titans have drop back quarterbacks as Mariota’s backup and could benefit by having a mobile quarterback that would allow the Titans to not have to change their offense if he’s out.
