CB Tre’Davious White, 5’11’ 192 LSU

What He Does Well:

Experienced and battle tested in the SEC, started for the better part of four seasons at LSU, performed well against the likes of Amari Cooper, Calvin Ridley and Laquan Treadwell. On of the most fluid athletes in this draft class, smooth transition out of his backpedal and can change directions with ease. Exceptional feet and body control. Is sticky in man to man coverage. Plays with good anticipation and reads quarterbacks eyes well. Adjusts to balls in the air well thanks to his recovery speed and body control, registered 15 pass break ups in his senior season. Experienced playing both outside and from the slot. Extensive experience playing with special teams units, three year punt returner with three career return touchdowns and an exceptional gunner on kick units.

Where He Needs Work:

Is not an overly physical player. Has a smaller frame than desired. Can be bullied and boxed out by big physical receivers. Playing from the slot he could struggle with large physical tight ends. Can be a bit more handsy when playing out of the slot. Bit of a liability against the run, at times shying away from contact, too many arm tackle attempts. Only six career interceptions despite being one of the more seasoned corners in this class.

Outlook:

In Tre’Davious White the NFL is getting yet another talented defensive back out of LSU. Capable of playing in the slot and outside is a massive bonus for White due to the amount of sub-packages NFL defenses run these days. While his physical limitations could hinder him against the run and bigger receivers his balls skills and top notch athleticism make him one of the top cornerbacks in an extremely deep class. I see him becoming an immediate contributor to a team as a sub-package defender and a special teams player before becoming a longtime starter. I expect to see him drafted somewhere between the mid-first round to early second round.
