Week 16 Reverse NFL Power Rankings

1. Cleveland Browns (0-14)

The Bills were thought to maybe give the Browns their last chance at winning this season but that game was never competitive. These last few weeks were also thought to give RG3 a chance to show what he has. What he’s show is that he isn’t their future and they should reinsert Cody Kessler for the final games to see if he has what they are looking for.

2. San Francisco 49ers (1-13)

The poor 49ers had to ravel all the way to Atlanta to take a huge 41-3 beat down by the Falcons who didn’t even play Julio Jones. Chip Kelly took over a poorly built roster but you have to wonder if ownership is going to blow the entire thing up. As big of a Chip fan as I am, I don’t blame them.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-12)

Heading into the fourth quarter it looked like the Jaguars may be able to pull out the win and shake up the top of the draft order, but then the Jaguars went back to being the Jaguars and blew the game. Though it was inevitable the loss also provided enough for Gus Bradley to lose his job. But they fired him before the flight so he had to fly home with the team after being fired.

4. Chicago Bears (3-11)

While most Bears fans are hoping for losses to improve their draft pick having a chance to sweep the Packers would be more than worth sliding down the draft order. But they lost and continue to stay within reach of a top three pick and maybe get their next franchise quarterback or an impact player to a team that desperately needs them.

5. Los Angeles Rams (4-10)

Normally teams fire their head coach leading into a bye or a longer break in between games so that the interim coach can work some changes. But the dumpster fire Rams do things their own way and do it on a short week. But let’s be real, they didn’t really stand much of a chance against Seattle anyways.

6. New York Jets (4-10)

I’m not sure what was worse the Jets second half effort giving up three unanswered touchdowns or the nasty hit that Bryce Petty took knocking him out of the game? But the Jets missed out on a great opportunity to get Hackenburg into the game and instead put Fitzpatrick out there. At least they’re hoping to get Petty back in there next week.

7. Philadelphia Eagles (5-9)

While the Eagles extended their losing streak to five games they are still playing hard and have been competitive in each game. Getting RT Lane Johnson will help but Eagles fans know that a good offseason could put the Eagles in a place to contender for the playoffs.

8. San Diego Chargers (5-9)

The theme of the Chargers playing tough and having narrow loses continued yet another week after a three-point loss to the Raiders. If the Chargers can ever have a season without a slew of major injuries they may make a playoff run, but we’ve been saying that for years now.

9. Cincinnati Bengals (5-8-1)

At halftime it looked like the Bengals were going to knock off the Steelers and help to salvage their disappointing season but couldn’t hold on and allowed 16 unanswered points in the second half to drop the game. It now looks like the Bengals are settled into picking in the top 10, but are a good offseason away from being right back in the playoffs.

10. Arizona Cardinals (5-8-1)

the disappointing season continues for the Cardinals who dropped a home game to a Saints team that really isn’t that great. This will be a crucial off season for the Cardinals who have to make a big decision and either go quick fixes to make another run at the playoff or look towards the future and possibly take a quarterback in the top 10.

11. Carolina Panthers (6-8)

It’s dominant wins over the Redskins that make you remember this team was the runner up in the Super Bowl last year. However, those wins have been too few and far between this year and that’s why their flirting with a top ten pick. Sure there are some slim chances at a playoff appearance, but with all their injuries I don’t see it happening.

12. New Orleans Saints (6-8)

It was a nice win for the Saints winning in a shootout much like how they’ve won most of their games. While the playoffs are still not out of reach it’s going to be a long shot at best.

13. Buffalo Bills (7-7)

It was an easy win for the Bills but little is going to change for this franchise that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. The reports of Rex Ryan getting fired last Monday proved to be false, but it’s hard to see him survive past Black Monday.

14. Minnesota Vikings (7-7)

With the Lions losing and getting Adrian Peterson back the Vikings were in a great position to close the gap but then dropped the biggest egg of the season. Losing big at home against a below average Colts team is flat out unacceptable. What a disappointing year.

15. Indianapolis Colts (7-7)

Don’t count out these Colts quite yet with a much needed win over the Vikings and staying within a game of the Texans. While the Colts still get the struggling Jaguars to end the year they play Oakland next week instead of the Titans or Texans to knock them down.

16. Washington Redskins (7-6-1)

What a brutal loss for the Redskins who were hanging on to the final wildcard spot and lost to a team that was projected to pick in the top ten. Luckily the Redskins have what should be a easy game with the Bears before finishing the season against the Giants that could decide if they get in or not.

17. Denver Broncos (8-6)

While the Broncos avoided the mistake of giving Brock Osweiler big money, I’m not too sure they’re better off with Trevor Siemian. Sure they have Paxton Lynch waiting in the wings but he has not looked good in limited action. This team is destined for an 8-8 finish.

18. Tennessee Titans (8-6)

A huge win the Titans traveling to Kansas City and knocking off the hottest team in football. At this point the Titans control their destiny and if they win out they’re in the playoffs.

19. Baltimore Ravens (8-6)

Baltimore won but they continue to go back and forth with the Dolphins for that last playoff spot. The Ravens likely need to win out if they want to guarantee their spot in the playoffs but that’s easier said than done with the Steelers and Bengals remaining.

20. Green Bay Packers (8-6)

In typical Aaron Rodgers fashion, the Packers were able to keep their playoff hopes alive with a 60-yard bomb to Jordy Nelson with seconds remaining to escape Solider Field with the win. This team is getting hot at the right time but you have to know that nobody wants to see the Packers on their schedule or to have the sneak into the playoffs. This is a dangerous team.

21. Houston Texans (8-6)

What has been a big time blunder signing Brock Osweiler to a big money deal may have ended with him getting benched against the Jaguars and Tom Savage coming in to get a come from behind win. Bill O’Brien is on the verge of getting the Texans to the playoffs two years in a row despite having nothing at quarterback. What could he do if he had some talent?

22. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-6)

Tampa’s five game winning streak was ruined on Sunday Night Football but this young team showed that they belong with the rest of the playoff teams. Tampa Bay is barely in the playoffs and has to fend off the Packers, but with the Saints and Panthers left they have a shot.

23. Miami Dolphins (9-5)

While you can’t blame the Dolphins for beating the teams on their schedule, they only have one quality win (Pittsburgh) out of their nine total wins. With Buffalo and New England remaining they should finish 10-6 which still gets them into the playoffs.

24. Detroit Lions (9-5)

Not only did the Lions lose, but with a Packers win it narrows the gap between the two and the pressure is on. Detroit needs Matthew Stafford’s finger to heel but likely it won’t till the end of the season. The Lions have a tough two game stretch to end the season but a win over the Packers puts them into the playoffs.

25. Atlanta Falcons (9-5)

While you can’t take any team for granted in the NFL, the Falcons used this late season game against the 49ers to at least let Julio Jones rest his foot before their playoff run. His absence also has allowed the Falcons to find more weapons available and this Falcons team looks poised to make some noise in the playoffs.

26. Pittsburgh Steelers (9-5)

In the past three years Big Ben has struggled on the road, but he played good enough in the second half to rally the Steelers and get a big win in the North. A win over the Ravens not only locks up their playoff spot, but could also knock out their division rival.

27. Kansas City Chiefs (10-4)

It was a tough loss by the Chiefs who not only lost at home but dropped below the Raiders in the West standings and also knock them out of a first round bye. Luckily for the Chiefs they host the Broncos and then play the banged up Chargers and have a great shot at a 12-4 record.

28. New York Giants (10-4)

With a win over the Lions the Giants continue to prove they are one of the elite teams in the NFL this year. What should be interesting is whether the Giants face off against the Cowboys in the playoffs and if they can beat them for a third time.

29. Seattle Seahawks (9-4-1)

After their embarrassing loss to the Packers the Seahawks rebounded nicely against the hapless Rams. With the Cardinals and 49ers remaining on their schedule it looks like they should cruise to a first round bye.

30. Oakland Raiders (11-3)

Whether it be by blowout or a close game the Raiders are continuing to rack up the wins and with the Chiefs loss find themselves back in contention for a first round bye. With games remaining against the Colts and Broncos the Raiders are looking at a 13-3 record.

31. New England Patriots (12-2)

While the Broncos are struggling it was still an impressive win for the Patriots relying on their defense to shut down the Broncos and roll to an easy win. New England is far from a perfect team, but with a defense playing well and Tom Brady at quarterback they’re still dangerous.

32. Dallas Cowboys (12-2)

Remember last week when Dak had a bad game and many were calling for Romo to replace him? Well Dak responded well completing 88.9% of his passes and getting the Cowboys offense back on track.
